Turkey Approves Kurdish Language

11 September 2009
A university in Turkey has decided to teach the Kurdish language, which was banned in the country until about 1991.This will all start at the Artulku University in the southeastern province of Mardin. They are doing this because one of five people in Turkey are Ethnicly Kurdish. THe head of Turkey's Higher education, Yusuf Ziya Ozcan, said that this would improve language of the minorities. I think this will be good so that the country will be more open to new language and make the country more diverse.
